Furikake

Japanese toasted sesame and seaweed seasoning. Great to add extra umami and nuttiness to cooked rice, vegetables, and fish, or in onigiri.

Recipe

Makes: 1/4 cup | Time: 5 to 10min

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp coarsley ground nori (about 2 nori sheets)
  • 1/8 to 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp dashi granules (optional)

Method

  1. Ground nori in a food processor with about 2/3rd of the sesame seeds.
  2. Add the rest of the sesame seeds, salt, sugar and ground dashi granules (if using), give it a quick pulse and your furikake is ready to use!
