Guaranteed crowd pleaser, my mum’s chocolate cake sits somewhere between a fudgy brownie and a cake. The cake is deeply chocolatey, dense and gooey with a crunchy crust.
Recipe
Makes: 1 cake | Time: Approx. 30 min
Ingredients
- 200g of dark chocolate NESTLE DESSERT
- 125g of butter
- 150g of sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 heaping tbsp of flour

Method
- Pre-heat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Break 200g of chocolate in a saucepan and add 125g of butter cut into small chunks.
- Heat slowly over medium-low heat mixing regularly to combine and avoid burning.
- Once the mixture is melted, remove from heat.
- Add 100g of sugar. Combine.
- Mix in the 4 eggs. Add 1 egg at a time and mix in well to avoid cooking the egg.
- Add 2 heaping tbsp of flour. Combine.
- Pour your batter in a non-stick mould (I use a 29x19x4 cm brownie tin).
- Cook in the oven for 20 to 25min, or until a skewer or knife comes out just clean. It is ok to have a bit of moisture and maybe a crumb on the skewer to make sure the cake stays moist, you just don’t want it to come out coated in batter.
- Remove from oven and let cool.
- Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
- Enjoy!
